Thanks very much for this. I think there is more to be said for the MMT (neo-chartalist) story, but I know that Warren Mosler in any case finds the term ‘money' too contentious and ambiguous. The neo-chartalist story is meant to account for currency. Bank deposits etc come to exist as a by-product. So I think Mosler might agree with what you say.
